Generally Barbs are hardy and make good aquarium inhabitants especially when kept in larger schools of 5 or more. Barbs do best in a tropical aquarium of at least 50L, kept at 25-27°C, with a pH of 6.0-7.0 and KH of 5. However, will not handle a dramatic change to their environment. Many Barbs such as all the forms of Tiger Barbs can be quite aggressive especially when kept in smaller groups then 5. Because of this they should not be kept with fish such as smaller tetras, angelfish, gouramis and guppys.
