Generally tetras are hardy and make good aquarium inhabitants especially when kept in larger schools of 5 or more. Tetras do best in a tropical aquarium of at least 20L, kept at 25-27°C, with a pH of 6.0-7.0 and KH of 5. However, will not handle a dramatic change to their environment. Many tetras should not be kept with large or aggressive fish due to their small size and sensitive nature. Fish that coexist with tetras in the aquarium include other species of tetra, rasboras, corys, and other peaceful community fish that thrive in a tropical environment. Tetras are omnivores and will accept most flake foods such as Sera Vipan and pellets such as Hikari Micro Wafers, but should also have some small foods such as frozen brine shrimp or bloodworms to supplement their diet with.
