What is gain value?Gain refers to the screen's ability to reflect and amplify the brightness of the projected image. It is a measure of how effectively the screen reflects light back to the viewer's eyes. The gain value represents the ratio of the screen's reflective power compared to a standard reference surface, usually a matte white screen with a gain of 1.0.The gain value indicates the amount of reflective lumens that the screen can provide. A higher gain value means that more light is reflected back, resulting in a brighter image on the screen. Conversely, a lower gain value means less light is reflected, resulting in a dimmer image. The gain value of a screen also influences the width of the viewing angle. A screen with a higher gain will have a narrower viewing angle, meaning that viewers must be positioned more directly in front of the screen to experience the maximum brightness. On the other hand, a screen with a lower gain will have a wider viewing angle, allowing viewers to see a brighter image even if they are not directly in front of the screen. It's important to note that the choice of gain depends on the specific viewing environment and the desired viewing experience. Factors such as ambient light, screen size, projector brightness, and audience seating arrangement all play a role in determining the optimal gain for a given situation. Why is gain important for projector screens?Gain affects the brightness of the projected image and the quality of viewing angles. It determines how well the screen reflects light and impacts the clarity and width of the viewing angle. Does a higher gain always mean a better image? No, a higher gain projector screen doesn't automatically guarantee a better image quality. While it can provide a brighter image from certain angles, it may result in diminished brightness from other perspectives. Higher gain screens typically have a smaller viewing angle. How do I determine the ideal gain for my projector screen? The standard gain for a projector screen is 1.0, which ensures equal brightness from all sides and visible from multiple angles. However, the ideal gain depends on the viewer's preferences and the specific environment. Consider the pros and cons of high and low gain screens to determine the best fit for your needs. What are the pros of high gain screens?High gain screens offer clear and visible images in bright settings, enhance visibility in dark conditions, reflect minimal light from walls and ceiling, and are effective in eliminating light from fabric screens resistant to general lighting. What are the cons of high gain screens?High gain screens have a reduced viewing angle for viewers not in the middle, require viewers to sit directly opposite the screen for optimal brightness, may not be bright enough for larger audiences due to restrictive viewing angles, and are not ideal for outdoor viewing. What are the pros of low gain screens?Low gain screens provide a more expansive viewing angle for larger audiences, diffuse light evenly across a wider angle for an equal viewing experience, and reduce projector brightness for indoor settings. What are the cons of low gain screens?Low gain screens are not ideal for outdoor viewing due to reduced brightness, reject some light from the projector, and may not provide ample contrast to view all images clearly. Does the Ambient Light Rejecting screen paint work with blended projections? When it comes to creating immersive and dynamic visual experiences, blending projections is a popular technique used in various applications such as art installations, theatres, and large-scale presentations. To achieve seamless and cohesive projections, the choice of projection screen plays a crucial role. Our projection screen paint offers an ideal solution for blending multiple projections onto a single surface. With its advanced formulation, our projector paint is specifically designed to facilitate the blending process and deliver outstanding results.Blending projections requires precise colour accuracy, uniform brightness, and excellent light diffusion to ensure a smooth transition between the projected images. Our projection screen paint was developed with all these aspects, allowing you to achieve a cohesive and immersive display. When it comes to large scale screens, our projection screen paint eliminates the need for cumbersome and expensive physical screens, providing a more flexible and cost-effective solution for blending projections. Transform any space into an immersive canvas where multiple projections merge harmoniously, captivating your audience. Does the this projector screen paint work well with both 2D and 3D Projectors? Our entire range of paints is compatible with both 2D and 3D projectors, ensuring optimal performance regardless of the projection mode. When projecting a 3D image onto our paint, it seamlessly delivers the intended effect, creating an immersive viewing experience when paired with 3D glasses. How is ALR Screen Paint Polarity Preserving?3D projectors work by projecting two slightly different images which overlap on the screen. These images are passed through special optical filters which results in the light being polarised in a different way for each of the projections. When you view the two images through special 3D glasses, each lens blocks one of the images, meaning that your left eye sees one image and your right eye the other image. It's therefore really important that the projection screen you use does not change the polarity of the light if you are using a 3D projector. All of our paint products are "polarity preserving" which means that the image you see will be exactly the same polarity as is intended, preserving the full 3D effect. Why our Smart Projection Paints Are Acoustically TransparentThe Sound Absorption Coefficient (SAC) is a measure of how much sound energy is absorbed by a material when sound waves pass through it. In our testing, the SAC is being measured for a 12mm gypsum board, which is a common building material. The SAC can vary with the frequency of the sound waves that are passing through the material. Different frequencies of sound waves have different wavelengths, and these wavelengths can interact with the material in different ways. Therefore, the SAC values provided are a range of values, as the SAC will vary depending on the frequency of the sound waves being absorbed. In our tests we recorded the following results:Unpainted Board α = 0.04-0.07 Painted Board α = 0.04-0.07The values provided are for an unpainted 12mm gypsum board and a painted 12mm gypsum board. The α values of 0.04-0.07 for both the unpainted and painted board indicate the range of SAC values for these materials. This means that, when sound waves pass through a 12mm gypsum board, some of the sound energy will be absorbed by the material, with the amount of absorption falling within the range of 0.04-0.07 depending on the frequency of the sound waves. However, it also indicates that each of our paints are acoustically transparent as there is no deviation from the standard board to the painted one.
